Image for Parisian Hotel

The French Hotel is a unique urban type which includes a variety of functions. These buildings often serve as art galleries, apartments, shop frontage, as well as preservers of urban outdoor space, usually including an interior courtyard and a rear garden. This project was a challenge in maintaining a coherent classical circulation system in spite of the irregularity of the site. This particular design sought inspiration from the great Parisian hotels of the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries. My aim in articulating the garden space was to ensure that it sensitively addressed the garden facade and that it was successfully compartmentalized into logically - planned and more intimate spaces.
