Urban Density & Sea Level Rise

This urban design project tackles one of the most significant issues facing our planet today–climate change. Located on a man-made peninsula dipping into the Arabian Sea, Mumbai is a city with the population and urban density of New York, yet provides housing to just 51% of its residents. Many residents live in self-built structures in undeveloped brownfield areas of town which lack plumbing, potable water, access to public transportation, and other necessities. I and a team of ten other students worked to propose solutions to these issues, focusing on creating walkable neighborhoods with high density, inherent beauty, and sorely lacking amenities
